This event was opened to all in the community, and those who have experienced the loss of a child were warmly welcomed and embraced. This year was the first time the service was held at Bunurong Memorial Park. This change was part of our ongoing commitment to serve our multi-culturally diverse communities that are spread across our nine sites.

We welcomed approximately 120 people and honoured 59 children in this caring and wonderful event. We are thankful for the attendance by some of our supporters, MISS, Red Nose and others. The lovely event was opened with the lighting of the remeberance candle by Trust Chair, Vanda Fortunato on behalf of SMCT.

For many, attending this service has become a special annual tradition to remember their children. For some, it was a new experience, and we were honored to support families navigate this special day. We are privileged to organise this meaningful event each year and hope it offers a space for community to honour and celebrate the memories of their loved children.

During the service, we set aside a special moment for the recalling of the star. This star was purchased by SMCT and named ‘Eternal Light’ in memory of all the babies and children of all ages who we remember every year during our Children’s Remembrance Service, a tradition we have upheld since the first service in 2005.

We thank all our families who attended this special event on Sunday 8 December, and invite you to provide us with your feedback about how you experienced the day by clicking 'start' below.
